MATH NEWS

6th Grade Students at Parker Score 1st Place in Math Competition

Congratulations to 6th Grade students at Parker who were ranked 1st in the 2012-2013 New England Mathematics League competition.  There were 109 schools throughout New England competing in the program and Parker ranked first.  Also, two students, John Lambert and Daniel Melanson, both answered 34 out of 35 questions correctly and were the highest scoring individuals in the entire competition.  Congratulations to all the students and the 6th grade math teachers for this accomplishment.

Parent Volunteer Signups for Parker Drama Club June Production

Parker Drama Club's production of Into the Woods is right around the corner and the team needs our help!   There are plenty of opportunities to lend a hand in small and large ways.   Please go to this link to let us know where you may be able to lend a hand, a ride, or your organizational prowess.

7th Grade Honors Placement
The honors testing for current 6th grade students will occur in the beginning of June. Letters will be sent to those students invited to take the honors test.

In order to qualify for the 7th Grade Honors Math Class, a student must meet seven out of the following ten criteria:

•    4th Grade MCAS score 260+
•    5th Grade MCAS score 260+
•    Continental Math League Test score average at least 3 points
•    New England Math League Test score 20+ out of 35 points
•    Term One Average 95%+
•    Term Two Average 95%+
•    Term Three Average 95%+
•    Skills Test 40+ out of 50 points
•    Teacher Recommendation
•    Passing the honors placement test

In order to qualify for the 7th Grade Accelerated Placement

•    4th Grade MCAS score 240+
•    5th Grade MCAS score 240+
•    Continental Math League Test score average at least 2 points
•    New England Math League Test score 15+ out of 35 points
•    Term One Average 85%+
•    Term Two Average 85%+
•    Term Three Average 85%+
•    Skills Test 35+ out of 50 points
•    Teacher Recommendation

Next school year is in sight! At Parker Middle School, we are excited about meeting our incoming fifth grade students.  A packet of information has been sent home with your fourth grader.  Please read on....    
In addition to the placement packet, information from Mrs. Whittlesey, Coordinator of Fine Arts Department, was sent home for you to review.

New LCD Screen in Parker Lobby

Students and Staff Keep Informed!

Students and staff returned from February vacation to find an exciting new addition - a large LCD screen in the lobby showing pictures, video, and upcoming events.  Parker principal, Mr. Parks, worked with Director of Technology, Ms. Fiore, to acquire this great communication resource for Parker!
